New Dem Statement on Resignation of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords

Today, the leaders of the New Democrat Coalition, led by Chair, Congressman Joseph Crowley, released the following statement following Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ resignation from the House of Representatives to focus on her recovery:

“Throughout her time in Congress, Gabby has been an outstanding public servant whose dedication and loyalty to her constituents, Arizona, friends and family cannot be matched. The New Democrats are so proud of Gabby’s contributions to the organization. She shares our commitment to making America a better, stronger nation that provides everyone with equal opportunity.

“We are incredibly sorry to be losing Gabby as a colleague, but are honored to continue to call her a friend. We have no doubt Gabby will continue to inspire the nation with her perseverance, strength and commitment in the face of tragedy. On behalf of the entire New Democrat Coalition, we wish Gabby, her family and staff much health, happiness and success in all their future endeavors.”
