New Dem Statement on Trans Pacific Trade Agreement Outline
Today, New Democrat Coalition ChairCongressman Joseph Crowley (NY-7) and the New Dem Trade Task Force Co-ChairsCongressmen Adam Smith (WA-9) and Jim Moran (VA-8) released the statement below upon the announcement by the Obama Administration that the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) nations have agreed upon a broad outline for the TPP Agreement:
“We are encouraged by the progress that has been made by the Trans Pacific Partnership countries to advance toward a strategically important pact. If successful, the TPP agreement will serve as a model for future regional agreements by maintaining high labor standards, opening up new growing markets to American goods and services, fostering innovation and strengthening our geopolitical relationships in this crucial region. We are pleased with the important steps that have been taken and look forward to working with the Administration to advance a TPP agreement that will help American workers and businesses compete in the global economy.”
