New Democrat Coalition Endorses George Floyd Justice in Policing Act

Today, the New Democrat Coalition (NDC) endorsed the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act. This bicameral bill seeks to advance important, meaningful reforms to increase transparency and accountability, improve the culture of policing, curb police brutality, and end racial profiling.

“Black Americans have endured generations of systemic racism and discrimination for too long, and this has been painfully evident in their treatment by law enforcement. The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act is a meaningful first step to increase transparency, deliver accountability, and help end police brutality,” said NDC Chair Suzan DelBene (WA-01). “The NDC will support our colleagues in the Congressional Black Caucus to advance this bill to ensure our law enforcement works for all Americans.”

The NDC recently met with former Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Chair and bill sponsor Rep. Karen Bass to discuss the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act and additional action Congress can take to help rectify the injustice many Black Americans are experiencing and help bring our communities together. The NDC endorsed the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act in the 116th Congress. The NDC will remain partners with the CBC and Black leaders in condemning and working to end targeted police violence across the country.
