New Democrat Coalition Inducts Additional Member
This week, by a unanimous vote, the New Democrat Coalition was proud to add Rep. Joe Morelle (NY-25) to join the Coalition in the 116th Congress. Rep. Morelle brings an abundance of real-world experience and is dedicated to advancing the New Dem priorities that focus on growing the economy, embracing innovation, and promoting smart and fiscally responsible government. The New Democrat Coalition is the largest ideological caucus in the House.
“The strength of the New Democrat Coalition is its members, and we are excited to add another freshman to the Coalition. Joe has spent a career finding innovative solutions to the economic development needs of Upstate New York. He knows what it takes to maintain a strong community in the face of change and economic disruption,” said New Democrat Coalition Chair Derek Kilmer. “He and the 42 freshman Members in the Coalition share our commitment to push Congress to look at old problems through a new lens. I am excited for the energy he will bring to the Coalition.”
The New Democrat Coalition is made up of over 100 forward-thinking Democrats who are committed to pro-economic growth, pro-innovation, and fiscally responsible policies. New Democrats are a solutions-oriented coalition seeking to bridge the gap between left and right by challenging outmoded partisan approaches to governing. New Democrats believe the challenges ahead are too great for Members of Congress to refuse to cooperate purely out of partisanship.
