New Democrat Coalition Leaders on Meeting with President Biden and Senior White House Officials

New Dems Discussed the Coalition’s Top Priorities and the Importance of Passing Strong Legislation that Delivers for the American People Ahead of November

Today, New Democrat Coalition Chair Suzan DelBene (WA-01) and Vice Chairs Scott Peters (CA-52), Dr. Ami Bera (CA-07), Sharice Davids (KS-03), and Ann Kuster (NH-02) met with President Biden and senior administration officials at the White House to discuss the Coalition’s priorities for the remainder of the 117th Congress.  

In today’s meeting, New Democrat Coalition Leaders thanked the President for his strong and steady leadership and underscored the importance of taking urgent action to pass: 

  1. A final bipartisan innovation bill that strengthens global supply chains and eases inflation 
  2. A strong budget reconciliation bill that does a few things well for longer with a focus on lowering costs for families, reducing drug prices, and tackling climate change.
  3. And bipartisan legislation to lower gas prices, increase public safety, and create opportunities for all Americans. 

NDC Leaders made it clear that we should prioritize legislative action that creates long-term, durable policies and deliver for Americans. They also reiterated that any executive actions should be developed in consultation with Congress and have broad support among the American people and Congressional Democrats. 

The senior White House officials in attendance included Cedric Richmond, Director of the Office of Public Engagement, Shalanda Young, Director of the Office of Management and Budget, Louisa Terrell, Director of White House Office of Legislative Affairs, Susan Rice, Director of the Domestic Policy Council, Ali Zaidi, White House National Climate Advisor, Cecilia Rouse, Chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisors, Shuwanza Goff, Deputy Director of the White House Office of Legislative Affairs, and Lee Slater, White House Office of Legislative Affairs. 

As the Majority Makers in the House, New Dems are focused on advancing the President’s agenda this year and in the years to come. We look forward to working with the White House to build a better America.
