New Democrats' Statement on the Fiscal Commission Report
Today, leaders of the New Democrat Coalition, led by Congressman Joseph Crowley, released the following statement regarding the report to reduce the deficit issued by the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform:
"If we are going to fully rebuild and expand our economy, we must both get our fiscal house in order and make key investments that will foster long-term economic growth and help get Americans back to work. This difficult task requires compromise and tough decisions, but the end goal is to leave our children and grandchildren with a future full of prosperity and possibility, rather than the financial burdens of the past.
"While we need to review the report in further detail, we appreciate the hard work of the Fiscal Commission. The New Dems are committed to working with our colleagues in the House and the Administration to ensure the federal government begins a new era of fiscal responsibility and economic success."
Statement supported by New Dem Leadership Members, led by Chair Representative Joseph Crowley (NY-07), and Vice-Chairs Representative Melissa Bean (IL-08), Representative Ron Kind (WI-03), Representative Allyson Schwartz (PA-13), and Representative Adam Smith (WA-09).??
