New Dems Collaborate with Senator Warner on Job Growth Policies

Discuss ideas to get Americans back to work

Today, members of the New Democrat Coalition's Innovation and Competitiveness Task Force met with Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) to discuss ways to spur job growth and put Americans back to work. The discussion was focused on the need to enact innovative policies that will encourage businesses to create jobs, train workers and students for 21st century employment, and spur innovation and research so U.S. workers and businesses can compete globally.

The Leadership of the New Democrat Coalition led by Chair Representative Joseph Crowley (NY-07), and Vice-Chairs Representative Melissa Bean (IL-08), Representative Ron Kind (WI-03), Representative Allyson Schwartz (PA-13), and Representative Adam Smith (WA-09) said, "Unemployment rates continue to rise and American workers are anxious to find stable, well-paying jobs. Today's meeting was focused on how the New Dems can work with our colleagues in the House and Senate to create jobs, encourage incentivize innovation, and support workforce training. We thank Senator Warner for his leadership and look forward to working with him, President Obama, House Leadership and the Senate over the coming months to enact policies to get Americans back to work."

Senator Warner continued, "While there have been recent indications that the overall American economy is on the mend, unemployment continues to be a challenge, and those of us in policymaking roles should be doing more to promote job training opportunities that will boost our nation's competitiveness. I am eager to work with the New Democrat Coalition and other colleagues from both sides of Capitol Hill to develop innovative and financially responsible policies that accelerate job creation and American competitiveness as we continue to try to re-boot our economy."
