New Dems Condemn House Republicans for Skipping Town, Steering Toward a Shut Down

Today, New Democrat Coalition Vice Chair for Communications Marc Veasey (TX-33) issued a statement after House Republican Leadership sent lawmakers home following the Senate rejection of the House Republican proposal that leaves millions of Americans with rising healthcare costs.

“Speaker Mike Johnson and House Republicans skipped town.

“After the Senate rejected the House Republican budget, they cancelled votes with less than two weeks to go and with no plan to fund the government or lower healthcare costs for millions of Americans. Congressional Republicans should bring us back and start negotiating on a real budget that will lower prices and avoid gutting health care for working families.”
