New Dems Release a Special Edition of the Fly-In: ACA Marketplace Patient Stephanie Bradford Discusses the Affordability Crisis
Yesterday, Fly-In co-hosts Reps. Greg Landsman (OH-01) and Marc Veasey (TX-33) filmed a live episode of the podcast, and were joined by Stephanie Bradford, a Type 1 diabetic from Pennsylvania, to discuss the healthcare affordability crisis
Today, the New Democrat Coalition released a special edition of The Fly-In, a podcast co-hosted by Reps. Greg Landsman (OH-01) and Marc Veasey (TX-33).
This special edition episode includes the final segment of this week’s Fly-In: Live event, which was streamed on Wednesday, October 28th. During this segment, co-hosts Reps. Greg Landsman (OH-01) and Marc Veasey (TX-33) were joined by New Dem Chair Brad Schneider (IL-10) and Stephanie Bradford, a Lancaster County, PA resident living with Type 1 diabetes.
Stephanie joined the podcast while visiting D.C. with Protect Our Care, an organization dedicated to educating the public and influencing healthcare policy, often by amplifying the voices of healthcare storytellers like Stephanie.
“Stephanie’s story reminds us what Democrats in Congress are fighting for,” said Protect Our Care Senior Advisor Anne Shoup. “By ripping away tax credits that make health insurance affordable for millions of Americans, the GOP is forcing hard-working people to empty their savings just to stay alive. Stephanie, a freelance writer, discusses the challenges of living with Type 1 diabetes while purchasing healthcare through the Affordable Care Act Marketplace. She details how her already high monthly premiums are expected to double next year if Congressional Republicans refuse to extend the ACA tax credits. The hosts and guests also talk through the affordability and access issues with the American healthcare system at large, and the work Congress must do to make healthcare available to every American.
