New Dems Urge for Swift Passage of Countervailing Duty Provisions

Today, leaders of the New Democrat Coalition, chaired by Rep. Joseph Crowley (NY-7), released the following statement on H.R. 4105 “To Apply the Countervailing Duty Provisions of the Tariff Act of 1930 to Nonmarket Economy Countries, and For Other Purposes”:

“All too often American industry competes on an unequal playing field with other countries who don’t play by the rules.  Today, we urge our fellow House Members to vote in support of giving the U.S. continued access to the tools to combat unfair trade practices that put U.S. manufacturers at a disadvantage.”

“As New Democrats, we support a robust effort to expand U.S. exports through which America can achieve growth and prosperity and maintain its global economic leadership. As part of our agenda, we expect our trading partners to abide by their commitments, and if not, the U.S. should aggressively use every tool at our disposal to fully enforce the rules so American interests and jobs are protected.”

Statement supported by New Dem Leadership Members, led by Chair Representative Joseph Crowley (NY-7), and Vice-Chairs Representative Jim Himes (CT-4), Representative Ron Kind (WI-3), Representative Rick Larsen (WA-2), and Representative Allyson Schwartz (PA-13).
