New Dems Welcome 17 New Members
Today, the leaders of the New Democrat Coalition, led by Chair Ron Kind (WI-03), and Vice Chairs Gerry Connolly (VA-11), Jim Himes (CT-04), Rick Larsen (WA-02), and Allyson Schwartz (PA-13), released the following statement after 17 new, New Democrat Representatives were sworn in.
“Members of the New Democrat Coalition are united in their belief that our democracy is at risk when ideology overpowers progress. We are solution-driven, and for this reason, we know our members will play a significant role in building a bipartisan compromise.
“Our new Members come to Congress with real world experience and an understanding of what it takes to compete and win in the global economy. We are ready to work with our colleagues on both sides of the aisle to come together and go big for our future. The brinkmanship must end. There is a way to address our nation’s debt while continuing to build an innovative nation that fosters economic growth, creates jobs and an avenue of opportunity for all Americans.”

This Congress, the New Democrat Coalition makes up more than one fourth of the House Democratic Caucus and will play a pivotal role in forging a bipartisan compromise.
