New Dems Welcome Rep. Pablo José Hernández Rivera of Puerto Rico as the Coalition’s Newest Member

At 115 Members strong, New Dems remain the largest ideological caucus in the House

Today, New Democrat Coalition Chair Brad Schneider (IL-10) announced the admission of Rep. Pablo José Hernández Rivera (PR-AL) to the Coalition. Rep. Hernández, who was elected in 2024 and will serve a four-year term, is the youngest Resident Commissioner in Puerto Rico’s history.

“We are excited to welcome Rep. Hernández into the New Dem ranks. A pragmatic policymaker dedicated to finding common ground to strengthen Puerto Rico’s economy, energy resources, and infrastructure, Rep. Hernández embodies the essential qualities that give the New Dems our strength,” said New Dem Chair Brad Schneider. “We look forward to incorporating his unique experiences and expertise into our ongoing efforts to both counter Congressional Republicans’ harmful agenda and develop the New Dem policy agenda to deliver real solutions for the American people – including the millions of residents living in our often underrepresented territories.”

“I’m a centrist, and I believe in working pragmatically to achieve results,” said Rep. Hernández Rivera. “On issues like economic development, federal funding, energy, healthcare, and housing, among many others, I look forward to working with my colleagues in the New Democrat Coalition to help Puerto Rico.”
