New Dems Welcome Representative Annie Kuster

Following a unanimous vote of its membership, the New Democrat Coalition welcomed Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02) to its ranks Wednesday afternoon. The moderate, pro-growth Coalition now represents over ¼ of the entire House Democratic Caucus at 53 Members.

The first woman to represent her western and northern New Hampshire district, Kuster was elected to the House in 2012. She explained that her pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach to governing would make her a natural fit for the New Dems.

“Granite Staters are looking for leaders to promote a new kind of politics in Washington that champions ideas over ideology,” Kuster said. “That’s exactly what the New Democrat Coalition is all about. New Dems stand for the millions of Americans who feel unrepresented in today’s constant campaign, and we’re firmly committed to tackling the greatest challenges – creating jobs, growing our economy, and lowering our deficit – America faces today. I’m proud to become a member.”

“As a new member of Congress, Annie brings expertise, energy and passion to the challenges we face,” said New Dem Chair Rep. Ron Kind (WI-03). “I look forward to working with her as we seek common-sense, pro-growth solutions for our country.”

The New Democrat Coalition is dedicated to maintaining America’s standing as the world’s strongest, most successful nation. Founded in 1997, the New Dems believe firmly in the power of American ingenuity and innovation, and are focused on finding ways to foster and harness this creativity to grow our economy, create new American jobs, and ensure a safer and more secure future for our country.
