The New Democrat Coalition Updates the American Prosperity Agenda
Today, the New Democrat Coalition released an update of the American Prosperity Agenda: Winning the Future. The agenda, originally released in March 2015, details the work New Dem Members have done to advance legislation that will help hardworking Americans succeed in a 21st century economy. The agenda outlines policy objectives to grow the economy, preserve the American Dream, and make government work better for the middle class.
“Americans across our country are looking for their leaders to work together to move our country forward. The ideas outlined in the New Democrat Coalition’s American Prosperity Agenda represent solutions – many bipartisan – for addressing problems that have seemed intractable for far too long,” said Chairman Ron Kind (WI-03). “While we’ve seen many of these proposals become law, there’s much more we can do to make meaningful progress.”
The updated agenda details over 240 bills, letters, and other initiatives that members of the New Dems have worked to advance in the 114th Congress. The report contains at least one item from every member of the coalition and more than half of the bills are bipartisan. Over 30 bills have advanced through committee or the House as a whole, and more than 20 items in the report have become law or been implemented by an executive agency.
The New Dems are committed to finding the most innovative, effective solutions for adapting to our economic changes. The updated American Prosperity Agenda reflects commonsense policy options to address our changing economy and will help prepare future generations to compete in our increasingly globalized economy.
