Member Highlights

Rep. Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) led 100 of her Democratic colleagues in sending a letter to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin urging the Trump administration to restore the Inflation Reduction Act’s (IRA) Solar for All program. The Solar for All program is a $7 billion investment to help working families lower their electricity bills, strengthen local economies, and build a more resilient future.

Rep. Kevin Mullin (CA-15) hosted a press conference at a child care center in his hometown to discuss the harmful impacts of the shutdown on families across America. He was joined by Head Start leaders from the San Francisco Bay Area to highlight the importance of accessible early childhood education and child care and to call on Congress to craft a bipartisan deal to reopen the federal government and restore funding for Head Start programs.

Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet (MI-08) and Rep. Hillary Scholten (MI-03) are leading Michigan Democrats in calling on U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Brooke Rollins to use contingency funds to continue food assistance for families in Michigan and across the country during the federal government shutdown.

Rep. Julia Brownley (CA-26) hosted a press conference to demand that Republicans end the government shutdown and protect access to affordable health care for millions of Americans. Rep. Brownley and other speakers also emphasized that the shutdown’s reach goes beyond health care, threatening food security for millions of families and children as SNAP funding runs out.
