New Dem of the Week: Rep. Brad Schneider (IL-10)
Rep. Schneider visits Wheeling High School to discuss the importance of closing the skills gap to promote American manufacturing.
Why he's proud to be a New Dem:
"Technological advancements and globalization have revolutionized the way we do business and how we engage with the world. The increasingly dynamic and competitive 21st-century economy creates significant challenges, and also incredible new opportunities for American workers, businesses and our country as a whole. I am proud to be a member of the New Democrat Coalition, striving to break through the gridlock in Washington and identify innovative, pragmatic policy solutions that strengthen our education system, grow our economy, enhance our competitiveness and create greater opportunities for all Americans."
His pragmatic, problem-solving experience:
With over 20 years advising companies large and small as a management consultant and operating his own business, Brad understands how the real-world economy works. His background enables him to see the key challenges small business owners face as they attempt to grow and hire. As a Member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Brad also advocates for our country's leading role in global affairs and a strong U.S.-Israel relationship. Brad has a BS in industrial engineering and an MBA from Northwestern University.
Brad's innovative policy entreprenurship.
A member of the New Democrat Coalition's new working group on job training issues, Brad has been a tireless advocate for helping America's workers obtain the skills they need to succeed in a globally-competitive marketplace. His AMERICA Works Act, which brings leaders in industry and education together to design training programs that help workers obtain the most in-demand skills, passed the House as part of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) this week. Also included in WIOA was Brad's LEARN Act, which expands on-the-job training programs for America's workers. Brad has also introduced a variety of initiatives to boost startup formation in America, including the Accelerate our Startups Act and the HALOs Act.
