New Democrat Coalition Chair Statement on the Passing of Former Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher

Today, New Democrat Coalition Chair Derek Kilmer released the following statement after the passing of former Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher, a founding Member of the New Democrat Coalition:

“On behalf of my colleagues in the New Democrat Coalition, we are saddened to learn about Ellen Tauscher’s passing. Ellen was a founding member of the New Democrat Coalition when she came to the Congress in 1997 and served as the Coalition’s Chair in the 109^th and 110^th Congress. 

“As Chair, Ellen made a consequential impact on the direction of the New Democrat Coalition, leading the effort to modernize the governance of the Coalition and professionalize its operation. Under her Chairmanship, the Coalition fought for a forward-looking innovation agenda, strong national defense, and more effective government. Those who knew her well remember her tenacity, creativity, and patriotism. We extend our condolences to Ellen’s daughter Katherine and the Tauscher family. I ask everyone to keep the Tauscher family and friends in their prayers.”
