Following the Release of the Action Plan to Fight Inflation, New Dems Take Action to Cut Costs for Americans by Passing Ocean Shipping Reform Act

Today, New Democrat Coalition (NDC) Members made progress on their recently released Action Plan to Fight Inflation by advancing the Ocean Shipping Reform Act to the President’s desk. The new plan outlines the steps Congress and the Administration should take to tackle inflation and lower costs for families. Enacting this legislation will be critical to addressing supply chain challenges and helping to get goods to the global marketplace faster. 

“Today, New Dems unanimously voted to send the Ocean Shipping Reform Act to the President’s desk for his signature, marking a big step forward in our fight against inflation,” said NDC Chair Suzan DelBene (WA-01).“The New Dem Action Plan to Fight Inflation called for enacting this legislation to help businesses ship their goods without unnecessary delays and outrageous fees. New Dems will continue executing on our Action Plan to Fight Inflation and advancing legislation that cuts costs for Americans.” 

The New Democrat Coalition formed the first of its kind Inflation Working Group this Congress to develop and advance policy solutions to fight short- and long-term inflationary pressures. After months of discussions with policy experts and economists, New Dems released a comprehensive action plan to fight inflation that takes a multi-pronged approach to lower prices by strengthening supply chains, addressing labor shortages, reducing trade barriers, and making everyday necessities more affordable.
