NDC Chair Kuster on New Dem Committee Assignments for the 118th Congress

New Democrat Coalition Chair Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the below statement following Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries’ (NY-08) announcement of committee assignments for the 118th Congress.

Eleven New Dems are serving as Ranking Members, including David Scott (GA-13) on Agriculture, Adam Smith (WA-09) on Armed Services, Brendan Boyle (PA-02) on Budget, Gregory Meeks (NY-05) on Foreign Affairs, Rick Larsen (WA-02) on Transportation and Infrastructure, Susan Wild (PA-08) on Ethics, Joe Morelle (NY-25) on Administration, Jim Himes (CT-04) on Intelligence, Raja Krishnamoorthi (IL-08) on the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the U.S. and the Chinese Communist Party, Dr. Raul Ruiz (CA-25) on the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, and Stacey Plaskett (VI-AL) on the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government:

“I’m thrilled about the strong representation of New Dems across all House Committees this Congress. From improving our nation's roads, bridges, and internet through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to lowering health care and energy costs with the Inflation Reduction Act, New Dems have a proven track record of delivering results for the American people. Our Members – especially our 17 New Members – look forward to building on this progress with their committee assignments.

“As New Dems, our mission is to find common ground with solutions-oriented Republicans to address the issues that Americans care about most – from addressing the debt ceiling and reforming our immigration system to investing in workforce development and tackling the twin mental health and substance use disorder crises.

“In every committee meeting, New Dems will show the American people why we are the ‘Can Do’ Caucus by continuing our record of delivering for the American people.”
