New Dem Chair Kuster Applauds Nomination of Xochitl Torres Small as the Deputy Secretary of Agriculture, Calls on Senate for Swift Confirmation

Today, New Democrat Coalition Chair Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement applauding President Biden’s decision to nominate Xochitl Torres Small as the Deputy Secretary of Agriculture and calling on the Senate to act quickly to confirm her nomination: 

“I’m thrilled the President has nominated my friend and former New Dem Representative Xochitl Torres Small to be the Deputy Secretary of Agriculture. 

“Her knowledge of and dedication to rural communities make her the best person for this critical role. From increasing access to health care and broadband in rural communities to investing in clean energy and higher education, she has a proven track record of delivering for rural America. 

“As the Deputy Secretary of Agriculture, Torres Small will play a key role in negotiating and finalizing a bipartisan Farm Bill this year. New Dems call on the Senate to confirm her nomination as soon as possible.”
