New Dem Chair Brad Schneider Slams Pentagon for Lying about Servicemember Deaths
“1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad, Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, and Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton. The American people should know their names and honor their sacrifice.”
Today, New Democrat Coalition Chair Brad Schneider (IL-10) issued a statement following reports that the Pentagon’s official online list of servicemembers killed in the Iran War removed the names of four soldiers who died over the weekend. In total, the Iran War has resulted in the deaths of 18 servicemembers and injured more than 400 men and women.
“I am disgusted and saddened by the Pentagon’s attempt to conceal the cause of servicemembers' deaths in a pathetic attempt to save face for the Trump Administration.
“1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad, Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, and Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton all gave their last full measure of devotion in defense of our liberty and security. The American people should know their names and honor their sacrifice. Their families and communities are mourning their loss and should not have to see their pain and suffering politicized.
“This is just the latest example of the Pentagon concealing casualties and lying to the American people about the realities of their failing war. New Dems will continue to demand transparency and accountability from this Administration, and we will continue to push for an end to this ill-conceived war that brings our servicemembers home, ensures our national security, and secures the safety of our allies throughout the region.”
