New Dem Chair’s Statement on Investing in Opportunity Act

Washington, DC – Yesterday, New Dem Chair Rep. Ron Kind (WI-03) introduced a bipartisan bill that creates an incentive for entrepreneurs and businesses to invest in economically distressed communities across the country. The bill opens the door to private capital in many ways as it removes barriers to investment, concentrates capital through geographical targeting, and provides incentives for investors to make long-term commitments. Rep. Kind released the following statement:

“While economic conditions in communities across western and central Wisconsin have been steadily improving there are still too many distressed communities that haven’t had access to the investments they need to thrive.  It is time we take steps to fix this problem. The Investing in Opportunity Act will partner local communities with investors to increase the level of investment in distressed areas, level the playing field for all communities, and bring jobs to the communities that need them the most,” said Rep. Kind.
