Boosting America’s Exports Act Will Help Small Businesses Expand Export Opportunities
Washington, DC – Last week, New Dem Rep. Cheri Bustos (IL-17) introduced the Boosting America’s Exports (BAE) Act which provides American businesses with the help and guidance that will allow them to expand into foreign markets. The Act is co-sponsored by New Dem Reps. Don Beyer (VA-08), John Carney (DE-AL), Bill Foster (IL-11), Jim Himes (CT-04), Derek Kilmer (WA-6), and Ron Kind (WI-03), Anne Kuster (NH-02), Jared Polis (CO-02), and Mike Quigley (IL-05).
Currently just a quarter of American businesses that produce goods are exporting to foreign markets despite the tens of thousands of small- and medium-sized manufacturing companies that have an interest in exporting. These businesses are not fully maximizing their exporting potential because the prospect of entering a new foreign market can be daunting.
“To grow our economy and create more good paying American jobs, we need to help small businesses increase their exports to new markets – that's why I introduced the Boosting American Exports Act,” said Congresswoman Cheri Bustos. “For entrepreneurs and small business owners, it can be a real challenge to begin the process of exporting American-made products overseas. My legislation will help connect them with the resources they need to cut through the red tape so they can tap into new markets and strengthen our economy. I’m proud to have the support of Members of the New Democrat Coalition as we work to deliver common sense solutions that will ensure a brighter economic future for all Americans.”
The BAE Act will help small- and medium-sized businesses expand into foreign markets, and it furthers the ideas New Dems have outlined in the New Democrat Prosperity Agenda: Winning the Future. This expansion will help create sustainable jobs and help small businesses compete in our growing global economy.
