New Dem Leadership Endorses Two Democratic Caucus Rules Changes to Return the DCCC Chair to an Appointed Position & Create a New Leadership Representative for Battleground Members
Today, New Democrat Coalition (NDC) Leadership Members endorsed two new changes to the House Democratic Caucus rules: NDC Chair Suzan DelBene (WA-01) and Leadership Member Brad Schneider’s (IL-10) proposal to return the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) Chair to an appointed position and New Dem Rep. Susie Lee’s (NV-03) proposal to create a Battleground Leadership Representative within the Democratic Leadership.
NDC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement on the endorsements:
“Today, New Dem leadership announced the endorsement of two new rules that will strengthen our House Democratic Caucus and improve our ability to take back the House in 2024.
“First, our leadership is supporting the amendment I authored with Representatives Brad Schneider, Mark Pocan, and Mike Thompson to return the DCCC Chair to an appointed position, as it was before the 116th Congress. The amendment has broad support across the Caucus and will make the DCCC a stronger organization focused solely on winning back the majority.
“Second, we are excited to endorse New Dem Rep. Susie Lee’s proposal to create a Battleground Leadership Representative as part of the Democratic leadership team. Our Members represent the vast majority of the battleground districts in Congress, and it is critical that the Members who represent these districts are heard at every level of the Caucus, including the leadership table.
“New Dems are Majority Makers. We made the majority in 2018, protected our majority in 2020, and flipped seven seats in 2022. In 2024, our Members will be the key to taking back the House once again, and these two rules changes will make our job much easier.”
