New Dem Trade Leaders Respond to WTO Airbus Ruling

Today, the New Democrat Coalition Trade Task Force Co-Chairs Congressman Adam Smith (WA-9) and Congressman Jim Moran (VA-8) released the statement below, following the World Trade Organization's ruling on the Airbus subsidies dispute:

"Today's ruling by the World Trade Organization against the European Union for anti-competitive subsidies provided to Airbus was a win for the United States in efforts to enforce existing trade agreements and to protect American goods, services and businesses from unfair trade barriers in the global marketplace. Participating in trade with our global partners presents tremendous opportunities for American businesses, workers and our nation's long-term economic growth, but when inequitable trading practices put American businesses and workers at a competitive disadvantage, we must demand enforcement of our agreements. We applaud the work of the Office of the United States Trade Representative for their work over the past five years to ensure strong enforcement of our existing trade agreement with the European Union."

Statement supported by New Democrat Trade Task Force Co-Chairs Representative Adam Smith (WA-09) and Representative Jim Moran (VA-8).
