New Democrat Coalition Chair and Chair-Elect Statement on Bipartisan COVID Proposal

Today, New Democrat Coalition (NDC) Chair Derek Kilmer (WA-06) and Chair-elect Suzan DelBene (WA-01) issued a statement on the release of the immediate COVID relief legislative package. In early 2021, Congress will also have to act to provide additional robust relieve and stimulus.

“As the coronavirus pandemic continues to threaten American lives, livelihoods, and our nation’s economy, Congress and the Administration have to reach a COVID relief deal as soon as possible. For months, the New Democrat Coalition has urged congressional leaders and the administration to come together to address the enormous public health and economic crises our nation is facing. We appreciate the progress made today by the bipartisan group of House and Senate Members in putting forward legislation to address the critical support that our communities desperately need. We understand that – particularly in the midst of divided government – getting help to those in need will require building on such bipartisan steps. There are outstanding issues that we hope can be resolved including the need for state and local funding and concerns with the liability provisions. We urge the House and the Senate to come together and advance COVID relief along with the end of the year funding package.”
