New Democrat Coalition Chair Ron Kind: Time to Act is Now
This evening, New Democrat Coalition Chair Ron Kind (WI-03) released the following statement after the House of Representatives voted to extend tax cuts to the middle class.
“Tonight, Congress put politics aside to do what was necessary to support the middle class and to protect American small businesses. Unfortunately, this compromise only scratches the surface of what needs to be done to help solve our fiscal challenges.
“We can no longer continue to punt the ball. We’ve got to take a shot down the field and pass a big-balanced compromise that combines revenue increases and spending cuts without stifling our ability to compete globally through investments in innovation, infrastructure, and education. It is also our duty to give Americans certainty and consistency within the tax code through comprehensive reform.
“The 113th Congress begins this week. Brinkmanship is over. The time to act is now.”
Next Congress, the New Democrat Coalition will make up more than one fourth of the House Democratic Caucus and will play a pivotal role in forging a bipartisan compromise.
