New Dems Celebrate Historic Success of American Rescue Plan

Today, New Democrat Coalition Chair Suzan DelBene (WA-01) released the below statement celebrating the first anniversary of Democrats’ historic American Rescue Plan, which New Dems unanimously voted for:

“One year ago today, President Biden signed into law the American Rescue Plan, historic legislation that provided direct pandemic relief to Americans, helped us weather the COVID-19 storm, and rescued our economy. Thanks to this legislation and the resilience of the American people, we have turned the page on the COVID-19 pandemic and are entering a new chapter that is guided by science and not fear.

“By expanding affordable health care to millions, providing assistance for small businesses and workers, and drastically reducing child poverty with the Child Tax Credit, the American Rescue Plan has paved the way for long-term economic growth in communities across the country.

“Under President Biden’s leadership and Democratic majorities in Congress, we are building a better America. Job creation is at an all-time high, schools are safely open, and Americans getting their lives back.  Now, a year later, New Dems are committed to building on the incredible progress we have made with the American Rescue Plan by addressing the challenges facing our communities. Our members will continue working to lower everyday costs for families and continue to strengthen the American economy.”

The New Democrat Coalition helped shape and develop the American Rescue Plan, which included NDC-endorsed provisions for a national recovery strategy, enhanced Child Tax Credit, increased health insurance access, emergency rental and housing assistance, and more.
