New Democrat Coalition Chair Applauds President Biden’s First State of the Union Address
Today, New Democrat Coalition Chair Suzan DelBene (WA-01) released the below statement regarding President Biden’s first State of the Union address:
“Tonight, the American people saw the President they elected – a strong, experienced, and empathetic leader who is guiding our nation with a steady hand. In just one year under President Biden’s leadership, our economy is roaring with record job creation, unprecedented economic growth, and a historic decline in unemployment.
“As Chair of the 97-member New Democrat Coalition, I applaud President Biden on his first State of the Union address and thank him for his leadership on the issues that matter most to Americans. President Biden has rallied the global community to support Ukraine against a murderous tyrant, developed a robust economic agenda that will lower everyday costs and create good-paying American jobs, and led us into a new phase of the pandemic that is guided by science and not fear. In doing so, he has demonstrated why strong American leadership is critical both at home and abroad.
“New Dems have already delivered on key elements of the President’s domestic agenda, including the American Rescue Plan and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, but there is more to be done. We look forward to continuing this progress and working with President Biden to build a better America. Our members are clear-eyed about the challenges that lie ahead, and we are excited to continue our work.”
