New Dems Reject House Republicans’ H.R. 1 Proposal, Call for Bipartisan Pathway to Accelerate Clean Energy Deployment
Today, New Democrat Coalition Chair Annie Kuster (NH-02), Climate Change and Clean Energy Task Force Chair Scott Peters (CA-50), and Vice Chairs Sean Casten (IL-06), Susan Wild (PA-07), and Eric Sorensen (IL-17) released a statement calling for a bipartisan pathway for clean energy deployment.
“This week, House Republicans will attempt to advance a partisan bill that does nothing to lower energy costs for Americans or address the reality of a changing climate. As our country experiences extreme weather events like wildfires, tornadoes, and drought, Congress should build on the progress we have made to expand our clean energy infrastructure, improve the resiliency of our energy grid, and expedite the development of transmission lines and clean energy projects like solar, wind, and geothermal. H.R. 1 would reverse that progress and lead to dirtier air and water.
“The New Democrat Coalition, led by our Climate Change and Clean Energy Task Force, is ready to find bipartisan solutions to accelerate clean energy deployment and lower energy prices. We know that time is short, and a changing climate will not wait. New Dems believe there is a path forward for bipartisan proposals to reduce energy costs, provide true energy security, and fight climate change by accelerating the pace of clean energy development.”
In the 118th Congress, the Climate Change and Clean Energy Task Force will engage across the aisle, with our Senate counterparts, and outside stakeholders to find a path forward to achieve our climate goals and lower energy costs for American families.
