On the 11th Anniversary of DACA, New Dems Urge Swift Action on the American Dream and Promise Act
New Dems have long called for bipartisan action to protect Dreamers and improve the U.S. immigration system
Today, New Democrat Coalition Chair Annie Kuster (NH-02) and Immigration and Border Security Task Force Chair Greg Stanton (AZ-04) and Vice Chairs Salud Carbajal (CA-24) and Lou Correa (CA-46) released a statement applauding the reintroduction of the bipartisan American Dream and Promise Act, which the Coalition previously endorsed:
“This Congress, we must act to protect Dreamers by passing comprehensive, bipartisan immigration reform. New Dems applaud the reintroduction of the American Dream and Promise Act and call for urgent action on the legislation, which would provide permanent protections and an earned pathway to citizenship for Dreamers and TPS holders who know this country as home.
“New Dems are committed to working across the aisle to pass this legislation in order to help grow and strengthen the economy, address the workforce challenges our nation is facing, and enable key members of our communities to fully and economically contribute to society.
“As the legal fate of Dreamers hangs in the balance, New Dems urge our colleagues on both sides of the aisle to take immediate action to advance this critical, bipartisan legislation through the House, Senate, and to President Biden’s desk as soon as possible.”
