New Democrat Coalition Chair Ron Kind Underscores Need to Go Big

Today, New Democrat Coalition Chair Ron Kind (WI-03) released the following statement after the announcement of the New Alan Simpson-Erskine Bowles plan:

“New Dems continue their support of a big, balanced deal to get our fiscal house in order.  We hope today’s push by Erskine Bowles and Alan Simpson will spark a renewed sense of urgency among Members to reach a bipartisan agreement and we look forward to seeing more details of their plan.  As New Dems, we are ready to work across the aisle to secure a long-term plan of significance.”

Members of the New Democrat Coalition continue to advocate for a bipartisan, comprehensive deficit reduction proposal that combines spending cuts and revenue.  Last fall, Members of the coalition sent a letter to President Obama, Speaker Boehner, and Democratic Leader Pelosi highlighting these commonsense bipartisan solutions.  To view a copy of the letter, please click here.

The New Democrat Coalition is dedicated to maintaining America’s standing as the world’s strongest, most successful nation. Founded in 1997, the New Dems believe firmly in the power of American ingenuity and innovation, and are focused on finding ways to foster and harness this creativity to grow our economy, create new American jobs, and ensure a safer and more secure future for our country.
