ICYMI: U.S. Trade Representative Froman Visits New Dem Districts Over August Recess

During his multistate tour to discuss how America can unlock economic opportunity through homegrown exports, U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman held events with New Dems leaders, local officials, farmers, manufacturers, and small businesses in diverse regions of the country. Some highlights from his New Dem visits are below:

Ambassador Froman and New Democrat Coalition Chairman Rep. Ron Kind (D-WI) discuss the economic benefits of President Obama's trade agenda for Wisconsin farmers, workers and businesses at an event in Melrose, Wisconsin.

Highlights from Wisconsin USTR Visit:

"As President Obama said in his State of the Union address, his number one priority is to expand opportunity for Americans from all walks of life. That goal is at the heart of our trade policy, which is aimed squarely at supporting jobs, fostering economic growth, and strengthening the American Middle Class."

"We currently have a trade surplus in agriculture, manufacturing and services with countries that have trade agreements with the U.S., and Wisconsin's agricultural exports increased by 25 percent in the first three months of 2014 compared to last year. That's good news for Wisconsin, and I'm committed to working with President Obama and Ambassador Froman on a fair trade agenda that will create Wisconsin jobs, raise labor and environmental standards, and reinforce America's standing in the world."

-New Democrat Coalition Chairman Rep. Ron Kind in Melrose.

"Officials say the Obama administration's trade policy will stimulate Wisconsin's economy and increase its agricultural exports...Byron Krueger, whose farm was the site of the visit, said he was pleased with the turnout, which included representatives from various agricultural organizations. Krueger, who farms on about 600 acres, said trade is important for farmers to succeed."
