New Dem Climate and Clean Energy Task Force Endorses Slate of Bills to Enhance Energy Deployment
This endorsement follows the Task Force’s efforts throughout the 118th Congress to streamline clean energy deployment
Today, the New Democrat Coalition (NDC) Climate Change and Clean Energy Task Force endorsed 14 bills led or co-led by New Dem Members that address barriers to energy deployment and innovation. The endorsement slate builds on the Coalition’s ongoing efforts to work with the Administration to implement the historic investments of the Inflation Reduction Act. The majority of these endorsed bills have bipartisan support.
NDC Climate Change and Clean Energy Task Force Chair Scott Peters (CA-50) and Vice Chairs Sean Casten (IL-06), Eric Sorensen (IL-17), and Susan Wild (PA-07) released the following statement on the endorsement:
“New Dems believe that every American deserves access to clean, affordable, and reliable energy. The historic investments that Congress and the Biden Administration secured in the Inflation Reduction Act have put us on a path to secure our energy and climate goals — but additional legislation is required to get us over the finish line.
“Today’s endorsement underscores our commitment to achieving a clean energy future. These bills will not only tackle regulatory hurdles and inefficiencies, but also extend key tax credits to incentivize energy production, improve coordination across agencies and all levels of government, and strengthen our energy grid.
“Guided by the Task Force’s six key priorities for permitting reform, New Dems will continue to work with our colleagues on both sides of the aisle to pass meaningful, bipartisan legislation that unleashes America’s clean energy potential.”
