New Dems Voted for This Legislation to Secure U.S. Supply Chains, Create Jobs, Spur Innovation, and Strengthen American Global Leadership

The Coalition Led Efforts to Advance This Legislation and Will Work to Ensure a Final Package Reflects New Dem Priorities and Makes it to the President’s Desk ASAP

Today, the New Democrat Coalition (NDC) celebrated the House passage of the America COMPETES Act, critical legislation that will tackle many issues weighing heaviest on American families and will set the United States up for long-term economic success. Since last year, our members have been leading the push to finalize and pass a robust American competitiveness bill that includes the Coalition’s priorities of securing supply chains, creating jobs and spurring innovation, investing in scientific research, and strengthening American global leadership. New Dems are focused on ensuring the final package reflects these priorities and makes it to the President’s desk as soon as possible.

“The passage of the America COMPETES Act is an important step forward for the future of our country,” said NDC Chair Suzan DelBene (WA-01). “Our members have heard from Americans across the country about the impact inflation, product delays, and empty shelves are having on their daily lives. That’s why New Dems took decisive action today to address these concerns by passing the America COMPETES Act through the House.

This legislation not only provides solutions to these challenges by bolstering American manufacturing and securing our supply chains, but also sets the U.S. up for future opportunities by creating good-paying American jobs, spurring technological advancement, empowering the next generation of American innovators, and promoting American values and ingenuity on the global stage.

“Our members led the effort to craft and advance the America COMPETES Act, and we will continue to push for a final American competitiveness package that reduces barriers to trade and includes New Dem priorities.”

Since last year, New Dem Members have been deeply involved in writing and shaping this legislation. Our members are focused on ensuring that the final legislation reflects New Dem priorities and combats long-term inflation, cuts costs, spurs innovation, creates jobs, and ensures Americans have the opportunities to succeed in the 21st century global economy.
