New Democrat Coalition Chairman Ron Kind’s Statement on Congressman Hoyer’s Make It In America Plan

Washington, DC – Earlier this week, House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer announced his updated Make It In America Plan to address today’s economic challenges and opportunities. The Plan aligns with many priorities in the New Democrat Coalition’s American Prosperity Agenda:Winning the Future which outlines a list of policies to keep America the most competitive, creative, and innovative country in the world.

“Hardworking Americans have seen first-hand that the economy of today is very different from the economy of fifty years ago. We need to be putting policies in place that grow our 21st century economy, which is why The New Democrat Coalition developed a comprehensive plan to make sure America wins the changing global economy. We look forward to working with Congressman Hoyer on his  Make it in American plan to address the challenges present in today’s economy and create the best conditions for American businesses to manufacture their products, innovate, and create jobs here at home,” Chairman Ron Kind stated.

New Dem Members have laid out these policies and initiatives in an effort to help shape and control the direction of globalization. The economy is different than it was in 2010, and Congressman Hoyer’s plan coincides with the American Prosperity Agenda in calling for efforts to find the most innovative, effective solutions for adapting to those changes.

The American Prosperity Agenda lays out policies to legislate for the economy of the future by identifying ways to make government more efficient, writing the rules of trade to elevate standards and level the playing field for our workers, businesses, and farmers, and investing in innovative policies that will help us maintain our status as a global leader in areas like developing groundbreaking technology, moving toward sustainable energy, and increasing educational attainment. With the economy continuing to change, we need to increase investment in education and job training programs so everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
