New Democrat Coalition Endorses Inflation Reduction Act to Lower Health Care & Energy Costs and Tackle Climate Change

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the New Democrat Coalition (NDC) endorsed the Inflation Reduction Act to lower health care and energy costs for Americans while also making important investments to tackle climate change. The Inflation Reduction Act reflects the priorities the Coalition laid out last year when negotiations began, and New Dems called for urgent action on this legislation as part of our Action Plan to Fight Inflation. NDC Chair DelBene released the following statement on the Coalition’s endorsement:

“The New Democrat Coalition is proud to endorse the Inflation Reduction Act today. By lowering health care and energy costs and making important investments to combat the climate crisis, this consequential legislation will improve our economy, save American families money, and ensure cleaner air and water for future generations.

“New Dems have long pushed for a bill that makes these key investments to lower costs and fight inflation. By extending the enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies, enabling Medicare to negotiate lower prescription drug prices, and boosting clean energy production, the Inflation Reduction Act will do just that.

“New Dems applaud our colleagues in the House and Senate, President Biden, and his administration for delivering this legislation and we stand ready to pass the Inflation Reduction Act through the House this week and send it to the President’s desk for his signature.”
