NDC Chair Suzan DelBene Meets with President Biden on Build Back Better Agenda

New Democrat Coalition (NDC) Chair Suzan DelBene (WA-01) met with President Joe Biden today alongside a small group of other House members and Senators to discuss the bipartisan infrastructure bill and the Build Back Better Act. The meeting was a productive discussion on the path forward for both pieces of legislation.

Chair DelBene made clear that New Dems are committed to delivering results for the American people. She emphasized that New Dems are the majority makers and center of gravity in the House. The Coalition’s 95 Members represent over 40 percent of the House Democratic Caucus, and are critical to the success of President Biden’s historic Build Back Better agenda to create jobs, tackle climate change, grow our economy, and cut taxes for middle-class families.

Chair DelBene reiterated that the Coalition’s focus in reconciliation is to do a few things well, for longer, and which can have an immediate impact and provide certainty and stability for families, workers, and our communities. The NDC’s priorities include supporting middle class families by extending the enhanced Child Tax Credit; building on the Affordable Care Act to lower costs and expand health care coverage; going big on climate by reducing emissions as much and as quickly as possible; and creating lasting jobs and opportunities in persistently distressed communities. New Dems will continue to work with President Biden and the Senate to ensure the bill reflects the needs of our constituents and has a path through Congress.

Chair DelBene also expressed New Dems’ support for getting the bipartisan infrastructure deal across the finish line.
